Matsumoto Shave Ice - New Location (Oahu)

Remember the long outdoor line that wraps around the old time Matsumoto Shave Ice shop in the North Shore? Parking in the muddy lot next door or across the street where there is no curb? Good ole Haleiwa.

Now under a new redevelopment project, the "Hale'iwa Store Lots" boutiques like Matsumoto, ocean photographer Clark Little and the restaurant/bar owner of Uncle Bo's are one of the first tenants to make restored plantation homes a new North Shore destination. Check out the larger retail space and outdoor courtyard.

Now there's another good reason to make that long drive northbound--not just for the 20 feet waves, but for the new Hale'iwa Store Lot shops (which does cater to tourists)...and of course to visit the new location of the iconic rainbow shave ice of Matsumoto.
